he cut it down.We celebrated Christmas Eve with our annual whirlwind trip to Chattanooga. We spent some time with Kasey's dad and step mom, lunch and some time with our friends Frank and Brandi Mangan and their kids Emma and Alex, and we ended our evening at Kasey's mom for the Smith Family Christmas get-together. Kendall had a little accident at the family get-together when Nana Judy's fountain fell over and hurt his hand, but he was fine and we continued on. We got home around 11pm that night. It was a long day, but one that we always look forward too.
Christmas morning was spent at our house again this year. Mom and Dad came over at 7:00 that morning and mom had cooked breakfast. She cooked her yummy sausage and wild rice casserole, apple sweet rolls and scrambled eggs. It was very yummy. Once breakfast was over, we carried on with our gift opening. Kendall was VERY into Christmas this year and talked about it for days before and day after. He is real impressed that Santa is so cool. He even left Santa milk and homemade cookies this year. It was fun to start some new traditions with him like the Elf on the shelf (our elf is Winston and Winston watched Kendall every day), we read several different Christmas books throughout the season and of course the milk and cookies. We have given him a pair of Christmas pajama's since he was a baby on Christmas Eve and will continue with that tradition too. Christmas was great. We got lots of wonderful things. Kendall made out like a bandit as usual, so we are overcrowded with new toys once again.
We headed over to my mom and dad's for dinner which was wonderful also. Paul came and joined us for dinner like he does every year. We enjoyed our time as a family and yes Paul is family to us, since his is in CANADA. Overall Christmas was a great day. We can't wait until next year when we are a family of four. It might be harder to travel though.
New Years Eve was also fun. Mom and Dad kept Kendall for the night while Kasey and I went out and enjoyed a wonderful German dinner at Ole Heidleberg. It was good to enjoy a nice dinner with just the two of us. We don't get to do that very often. We came home and watched the ball drop in Times Square at 11 EST and then I fell asleep. Paul came over to hang out with us for a little bit, so that was fun too. New Years Day was spent taking down Christmas decorations. The house looks so bare now.
Wishing all our readers a Happy and Prosperous 2009! May you have many blessings in this year to come.
