Part Beaver!?!

Doesn't he just look so innocent? Yeah until you look at his crib. He has decided that he is part beaver or some kind of chewing animal. This is what his crib looks like. We have tried the gummy rail and he chewed it off! We have something new on it's way to us to hopefully protect the rest of it.

1 Year Statistics

Kendall had his 1 year appointment today. The dr. was very pleased with his progress. She said the amount of words he is saying is the amount an 18 month old should be saying, so he is a little ahead in that department she said. He had to get two shots and a finger prick to check his iron. All is well there too.

Stats are as follows:

Weight-21 lbs 25%
Height-29 1/2 inches 50%
Head Circumferance-47cm 50% (she said his head has grown to hold all those words)

He is drinking way to much milk! He should have 12-24 oz a day and he is drinking 40 oz, so we have to cut back on that.

We go back in September for his 15 month appt.

A Belated Happy Father's Day Post

Happy Father's Day! This was actually Kasey's second Father's Day. Kendall was born last year the Tuesday before Father's Day, so we came home on Thursday and celebrated that Sunday.

More 1 year pictures

1 Year Pictures

Here are a few of Kendall's one year pictures from today.

Happy 1st Birthday Kendall

Kendall had a great First Birthday. We started the day out by going and getting some 1 year pictures done at Portrait Innovations and had a Family photo also. We had to wait a little while, so Kendall was pretty tired by the time they got to us. We still got some great photo's though. Then we went and ate at Chili's for lunch and that was also chaos. After all that morning excitement, we took daddy back to work and Kendall fell asleep in the car. Mom and dad came over about 5:30 and we opened a couple of presents and then went and ate at Applebees for dinner. Kendall got some ice cream and LOVED it. The big party is on Saturday! More to come that day....

Remembering the day

As promised, my story is to be continued....

Please read below post first!

After 8 hours of intense labor and only a shot of nubane, I finally decided to get an epidural at 8:00 am on June 13, 2006. Approximatly 9:30 am, my blood pressure started to drop and Kendall's heart rate started to drop. My bp got down to 75/47. I didn't know it until they gave me some oxygen and a shot of epinephrin. It was at that time I felt nauseaus, but soon recovered when the oxygen kicked in. I had to lay on my left side the rest of the labor. Kendall was just not tolerating my on my back. They had to hook up the monitor to his head too. I guess there was talk of c-section but with me getting back on my side, we recovered and saved me from that. A few more hours went by and many more visits from the nurse to see how I was progressing. The pitocin continued to drip which by the way makes labor more intense. Finally around 2:45 that afternoon I said I knew I had to push. The nurse Wendy told me that the dr. was next door delivering another baby. I remember telling her well she better push hard because it is time. Wendy said it would be fast because the lady did not have an epidural. Finally about 3:15 they let me start pushing. Dr. Belmont came in and was ready for me to start. After just 15 minutes of pushing(which they tell me is great for a first time mom-usually it is over an hour) and 15 1/2 hours of labor Kendall Ivan Brown came into this world at 3:33 pm weighing 7 lbs and 19 inches long. He had curly blond hair and I looked at Kasey and said "That's my baby" To this day that is the biggest joke.

It's hard to believe a year has already gone by. We made it through our first year as parents and what a blessing it has been. It sure has flown by though. Kendall has been the most wonderful little boy there could be. He is such a sweetheart! We couldn't ask for a better and smarter little boy.

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY KENDALL!!

On this day...One year ago!

Wow I can't believe a year has gone by already! June 12, 2006 I had gone to my weekly doctor's appointment hoping for some good news by this time. I was 39 weeks pregnant at the time. Up until this date nothing had progressed with me. Kasey and I went in. I was swelled up like a balloon(as you can see in the photo). I was quite miserable in fact. Dr. Rushing checked me out and he said well I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is you are starting to thin out(for all you women out there, this makes sense to you)LOL! You are 50% effaced but not dilated at all. The bad news is I will see you next week. If you have not gone into labor by then, we will talk about the possibility of induction, but not until after your due date. I looked at Dr. Rushing and said, I'm not going to see you next week. I'm going to have to have this baby this week and I will see you sometime this week. That evening Kasey and I ate dinner and then we did our normal walk(probably more like a waddle at this point) around the block. I remember stopping to talk to some neighbors and telling them the news the dr. had given me that day. No big deal-I was prepared to do whatever and be patient although I was quite large by this time-up 50 lbs! Yes 50lbs! Thank goodness it is all gone now though and then some.... I went to bed that night and I remember Kasey reading for awhile before he turned the light out around 11:45. I had just gotten up to go to the bathroom before he turned the light off. I came back to bed and I rolled over to kiss him goodnight and I said man I have to go again-Not a big deal since this is how it was by this point in my pregnancy. But when I went to roll over to get out of bed, I heard a pop. I went to the bathroom and it just seemed like I couldn't stop. I came back to bed and tapped Kasey on the shoulder and said I think my water could have broken but I'm not sure. I rolled back over and when I did, I felt a gush, so I knew it had broken.
I remember Kasey jumping out of bed and calling my mom and dad. He said get in the bathtub and sit there. What do I need to do!? I said just call the dr. and make sure they want me to come in, so he did and they did indeed want me to come in.
So the moral of my story....My water broke at midnight on this day(I guess it would actually be June 13) I checked into the hospital at 12:59 am on June 13. The picture above is shortly after we arrived. I was 1cm! That is it.
To be continued tomorrow......

Our sweet baby boy playing with his wheels

Kendall loves wheels! Anything that has wheels, he turns over and spins them until he is tired of spinning!

Enjoying some time in the pool!

We have been taking Kendall swimming a lot in my parents pool. He loves it. He got to spend some quality Daddy time on Sunday in the pool. Notice in the one picture how he is all leaned back with his feet crossed. He is just chillin!

We can't believe how much he is changing and how many new things he is doing. As you can see in the previous post, he is starting to walk. He lets go of everything now and usually falls, but he is getting there. We think another month and he will be walking. He has such a huge vocabulary, but I must say his favorite word these days is "My Mama"! I love it and Kasey does not so much. I told him though I waited 11 1/2 months for him really to say Mama and know what it means so it is fair.

His vocabulary includes:
Dog
Ki ka=kitty cat
Coo ca=cookie
duck
mama
dada
ball
Bottle which most of the time comes out Bobble
Ga Ga=food when he wants to eat
NaNa
Bye Bye

There are a few more, but I can't think of them.
